alexa mauzy-lewis (she/they) joined the design trust in 2022 as communications manager, advocating to protect and increase the accessibility of nyc’s public spaces through storytelling and thoughtful outreach. she believes the public realm is an important vehicle for disrupting inequality and empowering communities through shared resources.

prior to joining the design trust, alexa worked as a public relations specialist and freelance writer at the intersection of many social justice spaces, leading media advocacy and communications strategy for a variety of clients, including unions, public health organizations, climate activists, educational nonprofits, lgbtq+ rights groups, and more. she has experience covering labor movements, reproductive justice & healthcare, culture, publishing, design, and the internet.

alexa has a master’s degree from the new school in creative publishing and critical journalism (cpcj) with a minor in design studies from parsons. she graduated from pace university’s nyc campus in 2016 with a degree in communication studies and creative writing.
